We're back!!!!

Well, we are back, and honestly we are both wiped out! What a week! It all started on Saturday morning and our shuttle to the airport was a half hour late, no problem though we still made it in plenty of time. We had a wonderful flight to NY, we flew Midwest and I have no complaints there. I loved all of the room on the plane! Once we arrived in the city we were picked up by our friends (and personal tour guides) Sean and Aditi. We zoomed on over to their place and hung out for a while before going uptown a little and seeing some of the sites. I got my first opportunity to hold a $1000.00 purse, which I quickly put down and diverted Shana's attention to something else. Then it was off to a sports bar to watch K-State lose to KU. Shana was happy with the game, I on the other hand was not, oh well. Saturday night we went out for dinner with the aforementioned Sean and Aditi, and our friend Kevin also came with us. They took us to a Tapas restaurant which is Spanish and you order lots of different things in small portions, it was great and we all had a good time. Sunday we attended mass at St. Patricks Cathedral which was beautiful, we probably should have chosen the mass the Cardinal presides over though as they ran through mass very quickly, but it was still a good experience. Shana and I walked around a little (a little too much if you ask her, since she was wearing heels) and got some breakfast, then we went back to Sean and Aditi's place. Sunday afternoon we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and took a look at our friends new place they bought and had some delicious pie. We decided to order pizza Sunday night and watch the Oscars. Monday came and Shana and I were on our own. We rode the Subway (by ourselves!) and went downtown. We took the Staten Island Ferry and got some great pics of the Statue of Liberty. We went to Nike Town and a few other shops and then we went up to the top of The Empire State Building. Man, what a view up there. For a city so big, everything looked so small!! Aditi was gracious enough to make lasagne for us Monday night for dinner and it was the best meal we had while we were there. The highlight for Tuesday was The Waldorf Astoria. Man, did I feel out of place there. Our room was magnificent, we got a King mini suite. The only disappointment for me was the arms on my bathrobe were a little short but I digress. While we were waiting for check in time we went to the zoo in Central Park, it was small but a very nice zoo if you ask me. That evening Kevin came by the hotel and took us to Grand Central Station, we stood there and were just amazed with all the people, it was a really cool sight to see. Wednesday brought our first climb of the trip when we went to stay with Kevin. 5th floor walk up you say? Well, let's just say the decent was much easier than the ascent, but the climb was worth it to get to see K.O. We were pretty wiped out but we managed to get around to seeing some more stores and Times Square. We were thinking of going to a show but the line for the TKTS booth was very long and neither of us wanted to wait in it so we went back to Kevin's place. Wednesday night I had my first taste of sushi, and suprisingly to me, I liked it. Shana on the other hand...Well, let's just say it was about the opposite of the K-State vs. KU game feelings. Kevin and Sean took us to a bar called Rodeo afterwards and we had a great time there. Thursday Kevin took us to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and that was cool, then we went to FAO Schwartz and looked around, that was really neat. Thursday night, our last night in the city, we all got together for dinner at a great little Italian restaurant and got to spend just a little more time with our friends. I wish we both would have had a little more go at that point so we could have gone for drinks afterward, but these Kansas kids were flat pooped out. Friday morning came and we did just as we had planned, nothing. We did pack the bags and did some light reading, but for the most part we just relaxed, I had a big weekend coming up and we knew things would be busy for both of us trying to get all the laundry done and every thing else we needed to do. So, we cabbed our way to the airport, very ready to return to Kansas only to find out our flight had been delayed, oh well, more reading time. We made it into KCI at about 10:30 pm and Shana's mom picked us up and took us back to Lawrence. All in all we had a great trip, we did a lot, but there is a lot we didn't do. We had to save something for our next trip right? So there you have it, my first blog post, hope you made it through, it was probably pretty bland. Here is a link to all of our pictures, enjoy!!
